LS FLAMENCO
Bring JOY to your life dancing flamenco and connect with a wonderful community.
Dance from YOU, for YOU, to YOU.
LS Flamenco was founded in 2014 with the mission to bring JOY into people´s lives through flamenco dance. Since then, hundreds of people from all ages and abilities have experienced flamenco dance with us across Massachusetts.
Our classes are created to offer a friendly and supportive environment for anyone, with or without dance experience, to experience the joy of flamenco dance and connect with their bodies and hearts. All our students, from absolute beginner to advance students, have the opportunity to perform during the year and so experience the joy and excitement of dancing on stage. Learning the technique of this art form is important for us to understand the language and develop the necessary skills to freely to express ourselves and to bring joy into our lives through movement and dance.
Flamenco dance is known for its emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet. Dancing Flamenco is great to socialize and improve creativity by continually challenging the brain through learning about new cultures, new dances, and new songs. In our classes we encourage our students to dance from within and find their unique way to express themselves through this art form.
One of the most important elements in our classes is to develop a sense of community and support each other during the challenging and fun journey of learning flamenco dance. We are a family and we welcome anyone with love, compassion and empathy!
LS Flamenco in the Community
Our mission is to make flamenco accessible to all ages and abilities and create diverse and inclusive spaces in our community. We welcome students from all over the world and we love the diversity of our classes because we can learn from each individual since each one of them bring their personal experiences and cultures.
Since we started our journey in 2014 we have brought flamenco dance to hundreds of people in Massachusetts and collaborated with organizations such as Boston Ballet, José Mateo Ballet Theater, The Dance Complex, Boston College of Fine Arts, Santander Bank, Cambridge Center for Adults Education, Flamenco Dance Project, Ramón de los Reyes Spanish Dance Theater, Lesley University, Bridgewater University, National Ballet of Spain, Spanish Embassy or Cervantes Institute among others.
We understand not everybody has the opportunity to travel around the world to get to know new cultures and dances. For that reason, we decided to create a program “Flamenco for Schools” to bring this art form into the classroom of several schools across Massachusetts. Since we started in 2016, have brought a little piece Spain to several schools including Smithfield High School, Galvin Middle School (Wakefield), Lower School Cape Cod Academy, Gray New Gloucester High School, British School, Runkle School, Timberland Regional Middle School, Tynsboro Public School…among others.
We believe flamenco is an art form anyone can enjoy and can bring several physical and mental health benefits for those who experience it. For that reason, we started our “Flamenco in Health” program in 2019 to bring flamenco into different senior and health facilities. We have been working with Kenmore Abbey and Joy Health Center in Alston and will continue developing the program.
We strongly believe in the importance of community and so we continuously work building our own LS Flamenco Community while engaging with other dancers and companies in the area. We have been actively collaborating with the Cambridge Dance Community the past few years participating in several Dance Festivals and performances including Dance for World Community organized by José Mateos Dance Theater, the Festival of Us of Dance Complex, the Teaching Artist Concert of Dance Complex or The Waltham Arts Festival among others.
